The Rowan Boland Memorial Trust returns to its roots for this year's annual ball

The ball will be a masquerade event for the first time in a number of years on Saturday 10 February in the Volunteer Hall in Galashiels. Since being launched in 2013, the ball has raised tens of thousands of pounds to support young sportspeople in the Borders. Music is being provided by popular Edinburgh group The Back Green Band and the Bon Accord Ceilidh Band, with food and refreshments by Niki's Bar. Dave Boland, Chairman of the Trust, said: "We support a range of young people from across the Borders, including those starting off in their chosen sports, right up to international athletes such as Sammi Kinghorn and Alice Haining. "However, to continue this work, the Trust needs to raise funds each year and one of our main sources of fundraising comes from the annual ball. "We need to thank everyone who has supported the ball since it was launched in 2013, and made it a fixture in the social calendar. "Anyone coming along on 10 February will have a great night." Tickets are available from The Trophy Guy on Market Street, Tartan and Tweed on Bank Street or phone/text Trustee Kristin Boland (07884076179). Under 18s can attend provided they are accompanied by an adult.
