Finlay Lindores is making waves in the sport of disability swimming

Finlay Lindores is making waves in the sport of disability swimming – and he now has the backing of the Rowan Boland Memorial Trust. The 11-year-old from Galashiels received a £300 cheque from the Trust in January to contribute towards the youngster's travel expenses and purchase of swimming equipment. The Galashiels Swimming Club member travels to the Commonwealth Pool in Edinburgh to train once a week while he also attends East of Scotland squad sessions at Broxburn once a month. He also has to buy equipment such as performance swimwear, fins and hand paddles. The Burgh Primary School pupil is excelling at disability swimming, picking up a first place in backstroke at the Scottish Junior Championships as well as two third places in breast and freestyle. He has also finished first in the back and free at the Dundee Discovery Games and competed at the East District Time Trials in the last two years
