Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR)

YOUNG sports people from across the Scottish Borders can now apply for support from the Rowan Boland Memorial Trust, after it was registered with the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR).
The trust could previously only provide grants to youngsters in the TD1 postcode area but that has been extended to the whole region after its successful application to the Scottish Government body.
OSCR's framework means each of its registered charities knows its rights and responsibilities, which aims to increase confidence that donated cash in Scotland will help those it is intended to.
A trust spokesman said: "This is an important step forward for the Rowan Boland Memorial Trust, as we can now accept applications for grants from across the Scottish Borders.
"This means we will be helping more under 18s to develop their sporting potential, including those who are experiencing difficulties financing their sporting dreams.
"In turn, we hope to get even more support from more people across the Scottish Borders who have already backed the trust so generously."
