Rowan's smile lives on in Menorca

A charity night held on the Mediterranean Island of Menorca has resulted in a contribution of €1,650 to the Galashiels-based Rowan Boland Memorial Trust.

Along with his family, nine year old Rowan visited the village of Son Parc, Menorca for many summer holidays and made a great many friends there. On hearing of his tragic passing in April this year, the owner's and staff of BJ's bar in Son Parc organised a charity night to benefit the Trust and were delighted with the fantastic response from their customers, suppliers and friends who rallied round to raise the contribution.

The success of the night was a direct reflection of the popular impact that Rowan made during his visits to Menorca.
